UMinho trees

Trees are an important natural feature of the urban environment, serving a range of functions that contribute to people’s quality of life. They help integrate nature into urban spaces and have a positive effect on people’s physical and psychological well-being.

Trees in urban areas are therefore an asset to the institutions to which they belong and require regular care and monitoring to ensure that they grow harmoniously without compromising the safety of people or property in, working at, or using those institutions.

As part of its efforts to preserve and enhance its trees across its campuses, UMinho has been carrying out significant work to conserve and improve its green assets. This work involves professionals in gardening, urban arboriculture, tree surgery and landscaping, who work together to integrate green spaces into the campus environment while maintaining the health and stability of trees and other green areas.
