UMinho has Self-Protection Measures (SPM) that have been duly prepared and approved by the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), the body responsible for regulating fire safety in buildings in Portugal.

The SPM comprise a set of organisational and operational procedures designed to ensure effective safety management across UMinho premises.

Main objectives of the SPM:

• Ensure the safety of people and facilities.
• Maintain appropriate safety conditions at all times.
• Provide a rapid and effective response structure for emergency situations.

These measures are essential for risk prevention, damage mitigation and the protection of the entire academic community.
