Emergency Management

Emergency management at the University of Minho is based on an integrated approach that covers all phases of an emergency: preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. Its aim is to ensure the safety of the academic community and the continuity of University operations during critical situations.

The University of Minho’s Emergency Management Programme aims to:

  • Develop, update and implement Self-Protection Measures (SPM).
  • Organise and coordinate emergency drills to enhance practical preparedness.
  • Provide training and information on emergency procedures for the academic community.
  • Coordinate emergency planning, as well as mitigation, response and recovery activities.
  • Ensure the timely notification of the University community and Civil Protection Authorities following the declaration of an emergency.
  • Manage human and material resources efficiently to support an organised and effective emergency response.

This proactive and coordinated approach enables the University of Minho to respond safely and effectively to emergency situations.
